Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Substitution app and this website, operated by Bayardelle & Co. ("we", "us"). By using Substitution, you agree to these Terms.

1. Your license and Apple's EULA

If you downloaded Substitution from the App Store, your license to use the app is granted under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("EULA"). These Terms add rules specific to Substitution. If these Terms conflict with the EULA on the license itself or on Apple's rights, the EULA controls. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

2. What Substitution is, and what it isn't

Substitution is a coaching aid. It suggests substitutions, tracks minutes and fouls, and gives game-management prompts based on the information you enter and simple models.

• Energy and fatigue figures are estimates. They come from timers and settings, not from any measurement of a player's body. They are not medical, health, or safety information.
• You stay in charge. You are responsible for decisions about who plays, player health and safety, and following your league's rules, including minimum playing-time rules, foul limits, and timeouts. Always follow the official scorer and officials.
• Minimum playing time tracking prioritizes players and flags anyone falling behind, but it cannot guarantee compliance. It depends on accurate settings, on the clock being run correctly, and on the app being used the whole game.
• Game, lineup, and strategy suggestions do not guarantee any result.

3. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract where you live, or use Substitution with the permission of a parent or guardian.

4. Substitution Pro subscriptions

Substitution is free to use. Substitution Pro is an optional monthly subscription sold through the App Store. The price is shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple; see our Refund Policy.

If we change the price, Apple will notify you as its rules require before the new price applies. We may change which features are free or included in Pro. If we remove a Pro feature, you keep access to it through the end of your current paid period.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Substitution to break the law or anyone's rights; reverse engineer it except as the law allows; interfere with it or its services; or try to get Pro features without paying.

6. Your content

Information you enter, such as player names, stays on your device and remains yours. If you share a game report, you are responsible for sharing it appropriately, including any player names in it.

7. Our property

Substitution, its name, logo, design, and code belong to us or our licensors. Open-source components are provided under their own licenses; see Licenses. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

Substitution relies on Apple for distribution and payments and on RevenueCat for subscription management. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

9. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent the law allows, Substitution is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, games, rankings, or eligibility, or for any injury arising from coaching or playing decisions, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to Substitution is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Substitution in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.

11. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of Substitution.

12. Your legal rights

Some places don't allow certain disclaimers or limits on liability. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived by contract.

13. Ending use

You can stop using Substitution at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously breach these Terms, or discontinue the app, subject to your rights for any paid period.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here and change the date above. Continuing to use Substitution after a change means you accept it.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York. If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another country that gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under your local law, that right is not affected.

16. General

If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, together with the EULA and our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Substitution.
